The Water Treatment and Reuse group works with all technical processes related to drinking water, wastewater, and water reuse. This includes advanced processes, such as ozonation or membrane filtration, as well as nature based solutions, such as wetlands. We aim to simultaneously protect the aquatic environment while enabling water reuse which is safe for humans. We also work on optimising conventional biological wastewater treatment to minimise direct and indirect greenhouse gas emissions.
Our work includes applied research on pilot- and full-scale plants, the optimization of which is done in close cooperation with technology providers and municipal operators. We validate and improve the practical applicability of innovative technologies, opening up new advanced and sustainable options for the water sector.
