Currently, municipal wastewater treatment uses complex multi-stage treatment processes to reliably meet increasing demands on treatment performance around the clock, thereby protecting water bodies. To improve this interplay of physical, chemical, and biological treatment processes, we investigate and optimise existing plants, or test innovative treatment processes for more efficient wastewater treatment. Direct dialogue with plant operators enables us to seamlessly integrate practical research results into operational reality.
A main focus is on advanced treatment technologies for removing trace organic substances, known as the quaternary treatment stage. We optimise the dimensioning and operation of technologies such as ozonation or activated carbon filtration to balance resource efficiency and cost minimisation. We offer customised solutions for municipal wastewater treatment plants through our innovative, pilot-scale tested control concepts.
