Energy & Resources
The Energy and Resources group focuses on the recovery of energy and valuable resources from wastewater and sewage sludge for implementation of the circular economy. We evaluate the sustainability of processes and concepts by developing them technically and then testing them in practice. We ensure that recovery is not only technically feasible, but also worthwhile from an environmental point of view. To accomplish this, we use the life cycle assessment method, which looks at sustainability across the entire life cycle.
With our technical expertise and experiences from over 35 research projects, we provide operators and decision-makers with guidance on new concepts and processes, and highlight the benefits of the circular economy. A particular focus of ours is on balancing greenhouse gas emissions, which is critical to achieving the climate targets in the water sector.
